# Add custom messages to events

Sometimes it is desirable to add custom annotations to events in the traffic logs: perhaps for monitoring, visibility, or other purposes.

This can be done with [Edge Functions](/console-walkthrough/sites/edge-functions.md#adding-custom-messages-to-log-events).
